The Academy is delighted to invite you to a special talk by ‘one of Australia’s most original and interesting analysts of contemporary life’. John Montgomery is an internationally renowned planner and urbanist and is Managing Director of Urban Cultures Ltd, a specialist urban development and cultural planning consultancy based in Brisbane.
John’s work has directly influenced UK government policy on town and city centre revitalisation, the evening economy, the ‘urban renaissance’, the 24 Hour City, urban design, creative industry clusters and city cultural development.
His latest book, ‘Upwave: City Dynamics and the Coming Capitalist Revival’, takes a view on the role of cities in a prospective global upturn, based on technological capacity. This talk will draw on his writings, research and practice.
Places at both talks are limited.
