Wednesday 9th March 2016

The Devonshire Dome, 1 Devonshire Road, Buxton SK17 6RY
from 10.00 am until 4.00pm

2020 Vision: The Buxton Conference 2015 identified that Access, Parking, Traffic and Transport (APTT)
are key areas for Buxton to address in the coming years. Things are moving fast with more visitor
accommodation, residential development, major construction and the general raising of the profile of
the town as a place to be. So the Buxton Town Team decided it would make sense to convene another conference.

The event is being organised by Buxton Town Team, supported by High Peak Borough Council and
hosted by the University of Derby. Refreshments will be provided by the Catering and Hospitality
students and the Public Service students will be assisting with the organisation on the day.

The aim of ‘Buxton on the Move’ is to:

  • consider the implications of increased traffic movements in and around the town and how they might be best managed to ensure ease of access for residents, businesses and visitors
  • gather information on the needs of all users
  • share our thoughts, to gather ideas and work together

There will be a wide range of speakers presenting requirements, ideas and possible solutions and
everyone will be able to join the discussion on how best to keep Buxton moving. Well known documentary producer and advocate of traffic system reform, Martin Cassini, will be speaking, and delivering a public lecture after the conference in the Dome at 6pm. A full programme will follow shortly.

The Academy of Urbanism is supporting this event. Buxton was a Great Town finalist at our 2014 Urbanism Awards.

The Academy is pleased to be represented at this event by number of Academicians. More information at http://buxtontownteam.org/working-on/buxton-on-the-move/
