Changing Chelmsford – Ideas Festival 2013

Changing Chelmsford – Ideas Festival 2013

26 October – 3 November 2013
Chelmsford

Changing Chelmsford is a community interest company with the mission to engage diverse sectors of the community in shaping Chelmsford’s future by holding events, providing forums for collaboration and by establishing Trusts.

This year’s Fesitval of Ideas – entitled Imagine – includes 65 events for all to think creatively about the past, present and future of Chelmsford. We are delighted to take part in the 2013 festival by hosting three events and having a number of Academicians involved in organising the festival.

For more information about the festival, please visit http://www.changingchelmsford.org/ideas-festival-2013/

Why does local place matter?
30 October 2013
Chelmsford Museum

In a world of glitzy shopping malls, the changing role of town centres and the internet… How do we relate to our home neighbourhood? Do shops, pubs, allotments, volunteering, play and worship actually make strong local places? This event looks at Chelmsford neighbourhoods, examples of local place initiatives elsewhere and how sustainable local economies make a great City. Following the presentation there is a practical look at producing a user’s manual for local places. Booking: Free www.changingchelmsford.org/IF2013
